Trash Collection
Trash is collected every Monday by Deihm’s Disposal of PA, except when collection is delayed due to a holiday. When Monday collection is affected by a holiday, collection will generally take place on Tuesday.
Residents should place trash at the curb the evening before collection, as collection may begin early in the morning.
All trash should be contained in trash cans or securely closed trash bags and placed in a clearly visible and easily accessible location. Do not place trash behind vehicles, poles, trees, shrubs or other obstructions.
Extra trash beyond normal household waste may be subject to additional collection requirements or fees. Residents with unusually large amounts of trash or questions about an item should contact Deihm’s Disposal prior to collection.
Bulk Trash Collection
Bulk trash is collected by Deihm’s Disposal of PA on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month.
Limit: 2 bulk items per household per collection.
Bulk items should be placed at the curb in a clearly visible and easily accessible location.
Mattresses are not included with regular bulk collection. Residents should contact Borough Hall regarding mattress disposal and applicable fees.
Hazardous materials are not accepted with regular trash or bulk collection.
Recycling Collection
Recycling is collected every Wednesday morning by the Modena Borough Public Works Department.
All recycling must be placed in a Borough-provided recycling can for collection. Recycling placed in other containers will not be collected.
Need a recycling can? Borough-provided recycling cans are available to residents who do not currently have one. Please contact Borough Hall to request a can.
Recycling Guidelines: Only clean, acceptable recyclable materials should be placed in Borough recycling cans. Trash is strictly prohibited. Recycling cans containing trash or other non-recyclable materials will not be collected and may result in a citation.
Bottles, cans and containers should be empty and rinsed clean before being placed in the recycling can. Containers with food, grease or other residue that cannot be thoroughly cleaned should be placed in the regular trash. Heavily food-soiled or grease-saturated cardboard should be placed in the regular trash.
Cardboard must be clean, dry and broken down to allow for proper collection.
Holiday schedules or other changes to recycling collection will be announced by the Borough when necessary.
